The Urban Builder is a licensed and insured general contracting company that specializes in medium to large scale Residential Renovations, Home Additions and Soft Story Retrofits in San Francisco. Unfortunately we are not able to do small repairs or handyman type projects.

Kevin started The Urban Builder after working for ten years as a lead carpenter on residential remodels in San Francisco. Kevin always had a desire to acquire carpentry skills, so after moving to California from New York in 1998 he started working for various general contractors and was able to continue as a carpenter while earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Industrial Design from San Francisco State University. After graduation Kevin felt there were opportunities in continuing as a carpenter in San Francisco and soon developed the business plan for The Urban Builder.

After living in the Mission district for several years Kevin and his wife moved to the Sunset district where they are raising their son and daughter.
